Highlights
Krka National Park, Croatia
Home to abundant indigenous flora and fauna including over 200 bird species, it’s a magical place of waterfalls and gorges, with the river gushing through a karstic canyon 200m deep. Extending along the 73km Krka River, Krka National Park runs from the Adriatic near Sibenik inland to the mountains of the Croatian interior. The area’s remoteness has been attracting monks who constructed their monasteries here.
Hvar, Croatia
High points of the port town Hvar include its 13th-century walls, a hilltop citadel and a main square anchored by the Renaissance-era Hvar Cathedral. Hvar’s theatre holds an inevitable place in the general history of theatre. Its foundation in 1612 made it become the first civic theatre in Europe. The theatre was built above the Arsenal.
